The company is set up in Cuggiono, as the sole proprietor company of Luigi Calcaterra, operating in the Mechanical and Electrotechnical Construction sector (Costruzioni Meccaniche Elettrotecniche) and manufacturing asynchronous electrical motors. The acronym COS-MEL comes from here.
In the following years it enters the third-party processing sector.

Leonardo and Gabriele begin working with their father.
They subsequently become managing partners of COS-MEL Snc di Calcaterra Luigi & C.

The sister of Leonardo and Gabriele is officially put in charge of the financial/administrative area of the company.

Leonardo and Gabriele take over the reins of their father’s company, transferring it to the newly-purchased and renovated buildings of the former Lassini factory, and changing the name to COS-MEL Snc di Calcaterra Leonardo e Gabriele.
The company operates mainly in the chip removal sector, and its main activity consists of the manufacture and processing of medium-sized mechanical components.

Following expansion work carried out on the buildings, Gabriele and Leonardo set up FOROMEC Srl in order to manage the drilling and deep drilling business.

Riccardo, Leonardo’s son, joins the company as production operator.

COS-MEL Snc and FOROMEC Srl merge into one single company, COSMEL Srl.

COSMEL celebrates 50 years of operation under the same ownership.
